The one-week event aimed to highlight the efforts of the Al Dhaid Wildlife Center in preserving the environment, spreading environmental culture, and benefiting from the experience of the elderly in agriculture. The event is held to introduce the public to the "Qayd" season, which is the middle of summer, that starts with observing the star 'Suhail" and the emergence of some seasonal insects such as snakes, scorpions, and wasps. It also coincides with planting small palm trees and cropping mango, lemon, and wild cranberries.
The participation of SAASST was aimed at educating attendees and visitors about how space science develops and studies the sky. In the past, the stars' locations and the Moon's phases were signs of the beginning and end of seasons. For example, when you see Suhail's star, it will usher at the beginning of winter. In our time, we have astronomical observatories and modern telescopes to monitor all astronomical phenomena.
Through this event, it was an occasion to make SAASST visible and be known by the general public. SAASST researchers took the opportunity to introduce the academy and its various units, such as the planetarium, the astronomical observatories, and the research laboratories.
