SAASST Participation in SPACE 2101

A team from the Sharjah Academy for Astronomy, Space Sciences, and Technology participated in the one-week program organized by STEMPunks, Starlight Education, and Innoventures Education. The program was under the theme “Space 2101”.

This 5-day intensive Space 2101 Space Camp was designed and led by expert educators, industry professionals, and Astronauts being held for the first time in Dubai at the Dubai International Academy Al Barsha. Students in teams of 6-10 worked together to innovate and design their own idea for a sustainable space habitat. In addition, every student also has the opportunity to design a postcard that will be launched into space. To achieve this, the students were trained with several STEM tools, such as basic coding, circuits, and 3D designing.

The SAASST team included Yousuf Faroukh, Sultan Suhail Halawa, Mohammad Rihan, Ibrahim Al-Sabt, and Mohammad Musharraf. The team was responsible for teaching and helping over 180 students throughout this event. In addition, the SAASST team took part in several talks and panel discussions to encourage students in the field of space exploration. The event had special guests, such as Astronaut Susan Kilrain and Astrobiologist Dr. Michaela Musilova.
